Reflection

I have enjoyed IT 365. It was one of my favorite classes to go to because it is so laid back and everyone is so helpful and nice to each other. I love the fact that it is such a small class because we all get to get one on one help if it is needed, and let's face it, it usually is needed at some point. I thought IT 365 was just going to be another "let's learn how to use a computer" class, which I have had multiple times during high school. However, this class was so much more. All of our assignments were fun and very informative. I learned so much about teacher resources on the web. I have to admit, I used to get so nervous just thinking about all the assignments and lesson plans I was going to have to create in the future. I had no clue that all of the resources were on the web to make it a piece of cake. Now, I am ready to get started! This class got me excited about the technology available that I can now look for and use in my classroom! I most definitely will integrate technology in my classroom. After this class, how can I not? I hope to create a creative learning environment by utilizing technology in the classroom. I hope to introduce my students to new technologies they have not seen yet. I plan on trying to keep up to date with technology and stay "up with the times."

Assignment 8-Turnitin

For Assignment 8, we had to use Turnitin. I had used Turnitin with my history class Fall of my Freshmen year. Our assignment was so easy. All we had to do was copy and paste from articles for the first part of the assignment. Then we just had to summarize and paraphrase parts of articles for part two. All this assignment was to do was introduce us to Turnitin and show us what it did.

Assignment 7- My Movie Story

I had used Windows Movie Creator as a Senior in high school. Our Humanities teacher wanted us to know how to use it. We did a movie lesson in her class, and our movie was the ending to the lesson. So, I knew how to use this tool. I love it. It is so much fun to create a simple little movie. I decided to do my movie on my sister, Kaycie, and brother, Sam. It was fun to go through all of my pictures and choose which ones I wanted to use. Editing and cutting the music was fun too! I enjoyed this assignment so much!

Here is my movie!!!

Assignment 6- Assistive Technology

Before we could do assignment 6, Mr. Rich Baker had to give his presentation on Assistive Technology. He kept our attention by using Michael as a volunteer. I had no idea that there were so many tools out there to help the disabled use a computer. HeadTracker was very interesting. It is amazing how far technology has come in the past few years. Also, he informed us that Windows XP has voice recognition. I had no clue that my computer was capable of doing this. I enjoyed his presentation. I also am very thankful that he gave us all of this software so we could play around with it.

Assignment 5- Lesson Planning

I was so nervous about the Lesson Planning because I keep hearing from people that teachers are really picky about how Lesson Plans are done. So, needless to say, I was not looking forward to doing this assignment. However, it was not bad at all. I enjoyed the lesson plans that were on our website to use. I chose to do the Africa Lesson and Learning Measurement. For the Africa assignment, I said that students would be able to make a Power Point presentation with at least six slides that involved a sound and an animation. They would learn to do this by researching animals of Africa. For the measurement lesson, I had the students go to an interactive site that had an activity on measurement. They would also make a measure man! This was a fun assignment!

Assignment 4- Web Pages

Oh goodness, the web page! I thought that this would be super fun and maybe easy. It was so time consuming and Google Page creator just did not want to work most of the time. However, I love the way my web page turned out. If the kinks had been worked out of the Google Page creator, then this would have been a very fun assignment. I would create my own web page in the future, just with another page creator. This was the hardest assignment because of all of the problems I ran into. The biggest problem I had was getting kicked out of editing whenever I tried to make a link. I would get kicked out and sent back to the homepage without the stuff I had been working on getting saved, so I had to redo so many things. However, I finally got everything to work!

Here is a link to my web page!

Assignment 3- Web Tools

Assignment 3 was very interesting. It was a little time consuming, but considering the amount of work that we did, it did not take too long. If we had had to create a rubric, worksheet, puzzle, and quiz, plus create the schoolnotes website all from scratch, I would still probably be working. I had no clue so many resources were online for teachers. I knew there were activities and helpful hints for teaching, but I did not know there were websites devoted to having FREE and easy tools for teachers to help them create all the things we did. I have to say I enjoyed this activity because it really gave me a taste of what I could do with my own class one day.
